"Imagine that you\'re trying to improve production in a village wood lot. In addition to foresters, you might have a social anthropologist and — since men and women have different interests in the wood lot — socio-economic and gender specialists on your team." -Tim Dottridge, Director of IDRC\'s Special Initiatives Division [link]

Our Consulting Model focuses on providing a solution that is:

Services along the project or Organizational Cycle

Our services are divided into six components, demonstrating how Globalhood can engage with a clients’ project anywhere from incubation to implementation. This model is flexible to meet each client’s particular needs at any particular stage.

Assessment: Globalhood assesses the organization (mission, vision, and goals), its structure and systems, its beneficiaries, the intended programmatic impact and the evaluation tools used to measure it.

Research: Our multidisciplinary team of researchers synthesize relevant issues such as cultural, economic, political, and social factors, as well as program specific factors (local players, resources, history of project practices) and a review of best practices.

Globalhood has developed a library of lessons learned, case studies, and best practices (hyperlink - http://www.globalhood.org/resources.html), through the study of 45 development projects and which will continue to grow from future engagements. This research enables our clients to benefit from best practices, and also feeds into Globalhood’s own continuous learning, enabling the development of cutting edge methodologies to improve the effectiveness of development projects.

Solution: Globalhood selects a multidisciplinary team of experts, complementary partners and one cultural/location expert to identify relevant issues and risks and to formulate a custom-tailored solution to increase the efficiency and impact of our client’s work. Clients also have access to Globalhood’s network, our repository of over 300 toolkits (how-to-guides) across disciplines, Globalhood’s Blog and our quarterly newsletter of multidisciplinary techniques practiced by other organizations (forthcoming).

To ensure the sustainability of our solutions, Globalhood can also provide capacity building to client staff members on maintaining and enhancing our integrated methodologies. In the case of larger organizations, we may call upon experts from within the organization to cultivate an internal multidisciplinary approach.

Evaluation: Globalhood conducts evaluations using both quantitative (SROI, RBM) and qualitative (case studies, interviews, etc) methodologies.
